8-20-10 Board of Directors for the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce welcomes Kim Morris as the new Chamber President. The Executive Committee charged with finding a new president collected at least 18 resumes for the position. The group narrowed the field down to 3 and conducted a second interview with those finalists on Wednesday, August 11th. Kim was notified on Friday and began working the following Monday. Kim worked for the Chamber back in the summer of 2005 through 2006 in a part time capacity as Administrative Assistant to the President. The current Board Director Jaynellen Ladd welcomed Kim back and into her new role at the Canyon Lake Chamber.Kim and husband Aaron Morris have been residents of the lake for the past 7 years. Prior to their move to Canyon Lake they resided in San Antonio. Aaron is retired Air Force and has been the Director of Maintenance at Retama Park Racetrack since retiring in 1999. Kim has been involved in the Texas Tourism Industry for almost 20 years including seven years as the Convention & Visitors Marketing Director for Rivercenter Mall. She then moved down the San Antonio Riverwalk to Planet Hollywood where she became Director of Sales. During this same period of time she was named Chairperson for an Advisory Board with the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau. She later worked for the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce in 2006-2007. Kim is a “people person” who’s never met a stranger. She loves any type of outdoor activity including gardening, jogging and swimming. She would like to travel a bit more often, is an insatiable reader and is passionate about writing. She’s been writing a book that she hopes to publish very soon.Kim is excited about the opportunity to serve this community and has assured the Board she will work hard to promote our beautiful area and especially our vital business members. She is gearing up to visit with as many of our current members and potential members as possible. She has said “The relationship between the Chamber and our businesses is so very important. Our members need to know they are always welcome to drop in, make suggestions or just come in and chat awhile. Communication is essential to the proper growth of our community.” Anyone interested in becoming a Chamber member should call 830-964-2223.
